Scope: CLAC members constructed a 15-kilometre long trunk sewer tunnel that carries unprocessed wastewater and sewage to a water treatment plant. The project also included building 16 vertical shafts to provide access for equipment and material during construction and for long term maintenance, building a diversion chamber to direct flow to either the existing CDC sewer or the new SEC sewer, air handling and odour and corrosion control stations, and infrastructure and utility upgrades. CLAC members worked as crane operators, heavy equipment operators, mill wrights, diesel mechanics, carpenters, labourers, electricians, welders, fitters, plumbers, form setters, concrete finishers, tunnel boring machine operators, underground locomotive operators, and miners.
